Which method fits your iPhone?

Quick rules

  • iOS 14.0 – 16.6.1 → TrollStore: permanent and free. (16.7 RC and 17.0 also work but need a computer once.)
  • In the EU on iOS 17.4+, or in Japan on iOS 26.2+ → AltStore PAL.
  • Everything else → KSign or ESign with a personal certificate (more stable), or GBox’s free option (high risk).
  • Won’t pay but can borrow a computer once → SideStore (free, refresh every 7 days).

Answer a few questions and suggestions appear right below.

All methods

Each method has trade-offs. The coloured badges show how long installs last and how risky they are.

  • Permanent install

    TrollStore

    • Permanent
    • Risk: Low
    • Free

    iOS: 14.0 – 16.6.1; 16.7 RC (needs a computer); 17.0 (needs a computer)

TrollStore installs IPA files permanently, for free, with no certificate, but only on iOS 14.0 – 16.6.1, 16.7 RC and 17.0. Check whether your iPhone qualifies.

  • Certificate signing

    KSign

    • Until the certificate is revoked
    • Risk: Medium
    • Free or paid

    iOS: 16.0 and later

Install KSign, import your certificate, then sign and install IPA files right on your iPhone. The most popular method in Vietnam today.

  • Certificate signing

    ESign

    • Until the certificate is revoked
    • Risk: Medium
    • Free or paid

    iOS: 12.0 and later

ESign is a long-standing IPA signer still used on older iPhones. Import a certificate, then sign and install IPA files, plus a warning about DNS profiles.

  • Free certificate

    GBox

    • Until the certificate is revoked
    • Risk: High
    • Free or paid

    iOS: 12.0 and later

GBox offers a free certificate and a personal UDID certificate, and its developer claims support up to iOS 27. Easy to use, but the free option is often revoked.

  • Certificate signing

    Feather

    • Until the certificate is revoked
    • Risk: Low
    • Paid yearly

    iOS: 16.0 and later

Feather is an open-source, ad-free IPA signer for people who already have a personal certificate. Install Feather and sign IPA files right on your iPhone.

  • Official marketplace

    AltStore PAL

    • Stable (allowed by Apple)
    • Risk: Low
    • Paid yearly
    • EU only / Japan only

iOS: 17.4 and later (EU only); 26.2 and later (Japan only)

AltStore PAL is an Apple-approved alternative marketplace in the EU (iOS 17.4+) and Japan. It doesn't work in Vietnam. Requirements and setup steps.

  • Free Apple Account

    SideStore

    • Refresh every 7 days
    • Risk: Low
    • Free

iOS: 15.0 and later (needs a computer)

SideStore signs IPA files with your own free Apple Account, which is legitimate and avoids mass revokes. The catch is a computer once and a refresh every 7 days.
