TrollStore, permanent IPA installs for iOS 14 – 17.0

TrollStore installs IPA files permanently, for free, with no certificate, but only on iOS 14.0 – 16.6.1, 16.7 RC and 17.0. Check whether your iPhone qualifies.

TrollStore uses an iOS security bug (the CoreTrust bug) to install apps permanently. No certificate, no revokes, no renewals. The catch: it only works on certain older iOS versions. Its developer has confirmed TrollStore will never support iOS 17.0.1 or later.

Does your iPhone qualify?

First, check your iOS version. On iOS 16.7, also check the build number, because only 16.7 RC (20H18) is supported.

Method 1: TrollHelperOTA (Safari only)

  1. Open the official install page Safari only

    Open Safari and go to the TrollHelperOTA guide:

    Scroll to the install section and pick the button for your device: arm64e for iPhone XS, XR and newer; arm64 for iPhone X, 8 and older.

  2. Install the helper app Safari only

    Tap Install when asked. A helper app appears on the Home Screen, usually named GTA Car Tracker.

  3. Install TrollStore

    Open the helper app and tap Install TrollStore. The screen reloads (respring) after a few seconds.

  4. Open TrollStore and install ldid

    Open TrollStore, go to the Settings tab and tap Install ldid. Some IPA files need it to install.

  5. Install the Persistence Helper (recommended)

    Still in Settings, choose Install Persistence Helper and pick a system app you rarely use, such as Tips. If the TrollStore icon ever disappears, open that app to restore it.

Method 2: TrollInstallerX

This method covers iOS 14.0 – 16.6.1, but you need another tool to install the TrollInstallerX app first. You can use KSign or ESign with your certificate. With a personal certificate on iOS 16, you’ll also need to turn on Developer Mode.

  1. Download TrollInstallerX

    Get the latest TrollInstallerX .ipa from its official releases page:

  2. Install TrollInstallerX

    Sign and install the downloaded file with KSign or ESign, just like any other app.

  3. Run TrollInstallerX

    Open TrollInstallerX, tap Install TrollStore and wait. If it fails, restart the iPhone and try again; it sometimes takes a few attempts.

    When asked, pick a rarely used system app (such as Tips) as the Persistence Helper. TrollStore then appears on the Home Screen.

Installing IPA files with TrollStore

  1. Open the IPA with TrollStore

    Download the IPA in Safari. Open Files, touch and hold the IPA, tap Share, choose TrollStore, then tap Install.

    You can also open TrollStore, tap + and choose Install IPA File.

  2. Use the app

    The app appears on the Home Screen and keeps working permanently. No developer trust, no Developer Mode.

Common problems

The TrollStore icon disappeared

Open the app you chose as the Persistence Helper (for example Tips), then choose Install TrollStore or Refresh App Registrations.

Apps installed with TrollStore won’t open after a restart

Open TrollStore, go to Settings and tap Refresh App Registrations. If that doesn’t help, tap Rebuild Icon Cache.

I already updated iOS

TrollStore doesn’t work on newer versions and you can’t downgrade. Use KSign or one of the other methods on the home page.
